New Year Camping Trip
Hey everyone…
First off, Happy New Year!
I’ve been enjoying my 2 weeks of vacation which is soon coming to a close. Gay has been working but we managed to get away for a couple days and do some camping @ Golden Bay.
We set up our tent in a sleepy, tiny town called Collingwood, which for some reason our Lonely Plant (guide book) described as a “rat race”. Which was odd to me since the whole town was literally one street. It was cute but from there we took a trip up to the Farewell spit which is a long, thin stretch of land that juts up from the northern most point of the South Island.
Some highlights:
A couple of weeks before we came up there was a Pilot whale stranding in which 100 some-odd whales were stranded. People were able to save the majority of them but the ones they couldn’t save they let decompose on the beach of the spit. Which sucks for the whales but it sure did make for some interesting scenery and cool pictures.
We withstood a night of “Gale-force” winds in Gay’s little tent. While other tents in the campground were getting destroyed.
Here are some pictures of the trip and also some random ones at the end, like the ghetto bike I’ve been riding, our friends Jen and Tomo and Gay’s finger in a Pavlova cake.
I hope everyone had a great holiday and new year and I wish the best of things for everyone in the coming year. If any of you are planning a trip for next year, dont forget about visiting us!!

Your mom wanted me to tell you about stuart's band ( Orooni) whixh is now on their second tourg. They are now in the southwest, actually playing near adam katz inphoenix right now, and then on to N.M. and then back home to Colorado. In the spring he is going to be in the east- and actually will be playing in april in burlington, VT . I have to look up the name of the bar again- or you can by going to his website ( can also listen to some of his music) go to google and type in "orooni" since i can neer remember their website. he is absolutely loving every minute of his drumming! who knew???
