in perspective
I had dinner last Sunday with a very animated couple who are part of my extended family and who happen to be Hungarian immigrants like my father. They got on the subject of how they came into the country with all the drama and life lessons of a Dickens novel. What got me thinking was how many people on both my mother's and father's side of the family who have taken incredible risks to come into this country. Not with the intention of having a leisured "working holiday" like myself, but with the intention coming into the States and staying here. I have no reason to seek any kind of asylum in another country like they have but if I did I'd like to think I would show the same amount of gutsy-ness that rest of my family has...

Well, I for one, think it took a lot of guts to pick up and go to San Francisco, leaving behind an excellent, high-paying job. I also think it takes a lot of guts to pick up and go to New Zealand, a place at the edge of the world, armed with one suitcase and a girlfriend.
I think that you two will do just fine. You have my fervant best wishes.
Always,
Madre

My car is broken down today. Wanting a distraction, I found myself reading your blog. Thanks for the reminder that my little worries are just that...little.
Does that mean Anch and I are gutsy too? Hmmm? Hmmm? C'mon....Jon always gets all the credit!!!

No, in all seriousness....HAVE FUN! It's a brave decision...and you will never regret it. I am so proud of you and Gay! Remember...it's only one life you have- so make the most of it! (unless you are a feline like Tino...then, supposedly, you get nine lives!)
Enjoy the trip! Send lots of photos and get ready for my visit!
Miss you guys already! Happy Trails...
Hugs and much love,
Heater
